Sequences

The object of the contest was to determine what numbers should logically replace the three black question marks in each of the three sequences below. The rules stated that each sequence’s pattern was related to counting things of particular types rather than finding a mathematical relationship from one number to the next.

All answers were positive whole numbers. As a small hint to the nature of the sequences, ellipses indicated that a sequence could be continued; absence of ellipses indicated a direction in which a sequence had no additional terms.
